How MCCC Supports Community

Small Town Spirit

When Chris Ankeny arrived in Pemberton, he believed it was missing the delectable grab-and-go café fare of a passionate small town coffee shop. It’s why MCCC exists today.

And from the outset, Chris was deeply compelled to ensure his customers felt like the café was a part of the community. And that is certainly true of the Pemberton & Whistler stores, today. Because MCCC is a place to start your adventure, we support initiatives and programs that combine the community love of education, mountain biking, and winter adventures.

PORCA

The Pemberton Off Road Cycling Association was founded to support riders and trails of all levels. PORCA strives to maintain and enhance Pemberton’s world class riding experience.

At MCCC, we are big advocates of the mountain biking trails and community in Pemberton. We’ve always donated prizes for fundraising and events. We co-host the yearly Season Ender Toonie with Ario Construction.

WHISTLER WALDORF SCHOOL

Waldorf schools are progressive, independent schools providing an enriched curriculum.

At MCCC, we love Whistler’s Waldorf School’s approach to learning and full heartedly support the academic experience they provide. We provide yearly contributions to caffeinate staff, silent auctions, fundraising and Christmas fair.

SIGNAL HILL ELEMENTARY

Signal Hill Elementary School is a school of 400-ish students in Pemberton, British Columbia. Signal Hill Elementary educates students travelling from as far away as D’Arcy and up the Pemberton Meadows.

At MCCC, we understand the value in supporting young people through education. We provide yearly contributions to fundraising and silent auctions.

PROTECT OUR WINTERS

Protect Our Winters (POW) Canada is a passionate community of enthusiasts, professional athletes and industry brands uniting the outdoor community to advocate for policy solutions to climate change.

At MCCC, we believe our love of adventure in nature demands our participation in the fight to save and protect our planet. We have held commission free art exhibits at MCCC Pemberton. In 2021, we hosted featured wood-sculpture and paint artist, Ben Poechmanto. Proceeds of sales benefit POW.

RAVEN BACKCOUNTRY FESTIVAL

The Raven Backcountry Festival shines a light on the terrain and the people that help make backcountry skiing, split boarding and snowmobiling in Pemberton world class. The second annual event will include backcountry clinics that will put participants into the heart of Pemberton’s big mountain terrain.

The festival funds the Lisa Korthals Memorial Bursary which is designed to create a living legacy to the memory of Lisa Korthals. The bursary will be awarded annually to women who wish to get their start in Mechanized Ski Guiding

The Mount Currie Coffee Approach

Always Giving Back

While the above events and fundraisers are annual activities for us, we have donated to many more organizations that we love to support whenever possible: Pemberton BMX, Pemberton Skatepark, Pemberton Valley Trails Association (PVTA – serving all trail users in Pemberton), Stewardship Pemberton, Pemberton Youth Soccer Association, Whistler Gymnastics Club – Pemberton programs and more.
Like other community businesses, we were moved to offer supplies to searchers looking for a local boy and his father who went missing in the mountains in 2020. We send our deepest condolences to their families. And we welcome future outreach for supplies in urgent humanitarian and neighbourly efforts.
